What is HexaLink? How do you use it?

Our awesome new aquarium innovation is called HexaLink- the perfect upgrade from a regular floating plant corral. HexaLink are floating hexagons with magnets embedded within them, so they’re able to intelligently link together in exciting patterns to solve various problems in your tank.

What is Hexalink?

We designed HexaLink to be a floating plant corral but with a high-tech twist. HexaLink tiles are thinner, stronger, and more bouyant than any other 3D printed options on the market. We 3D print HexaLink using high quality PETG, and most floating 3D printed products are printed in PLA. PLA, while great for many things, can break down in water, leech chemicals, and become brittle in a few months. PETG is perfect for aquariums and will stay good-as-new for years! We embed neodymium magnets within each side of HexaLink so the magnets are never exposed to water and thus can never rust.

How to use HexaLink

Well, okay, obviously you put them in the top of your aquarium and they float! There are a few fun uses for them though:

  • We try to alternate polarities of magnets on each side. If one side of a hexagon doesn’t magnetize to another HexaLink, just rotate it until it does.

  • Try arranging them in different interesting patterns and keeping different types of floating plants in each HexaLink

  • You can affix HexaLink to the side of your tank using any magnet, such a fridge magnet

  • Try affixing a HexaLink where your filter churns the water to reduce current

  • Connect HexaLinks together to span the width of your tank, and secure one end with a magnet. Now you have a barrier to block floaters or current, and you can fill the barrier with more cool plants!

  • HexaLink also works great as a ‘portal’ - Grow floating plants everywhere in your tank and see through them with HexaLink!

How to expand your HexaLinks

All HexaLink products are compatible with each other. Some of the exciting options include:

- HexaLink Floating Plant Corrals, perfect for organizing floating plants or creating feeding portals
- HexaLink XL, a huge HexaLink Corral which you can connect other HexaLinks to the inside or outside of!
- HexaLink Planter, a floating planter for houseplants. Grow Pothos from a HexaLink!
- HexaMoss, with a mesh at the bottom to grow aquatic moss
- Our Propagation Tube, which clips to the edge of the tank and can hold or magnetize to HexaLinks
