How to use our easy drip acclimation kit
We sell a simple, cheap, easy drip acclimation kit because somehow the two other options in the hobby are to either tie knots in airline tubing like a caveman, or spend $20 on a crazy overpriced tube with a single valve in it.
So, very simply, our kit includes three things. A few feet of tubing, a valve, and a suction cup. And while we’re happy to have your business, you can certainly make your own at home too (don’t worry, we won’t sue you).
Here’s how to use it:
Just follow the above image. Place the end with the suction cup into the tank and suction cup it a few inches down, so the tip of the hose is fully submerged. Untwist the screw on the valve most of the way so it’s open, then just place the other end of the tubing into a bucket or bowl or whatever you’re acclimating your livestock in.
Gently suck on the end of the tubing with your mouth to start the siphon, then use the valve to adjust the drip rate. Usually, 1 drip every second is perfectly adequate, but you can adjust as you need.
Once you’re done acclimating, you can open the valve and just blow into the tubing to clean it out and reuse it.
Best of luck with your new livestock!
